Welcome to my new website.
I thought I would use my new website to introduce my business and the services that I provide.
I think it‘s obvious that I love cake decorating and consider it to be an art form. However, it‘s only been eighteen months since I decided to embrace it as a full-time career and to be honest I am so glad I have. Ironically, Liz from Finishing Touches was moving her cake supply business to larger premises and opening a Cake Studio above the shop. I jumped at the chance to work in the shop for two days a week and for the rest of the week, run my parallel business. The Studio is the ideal setting for delivering cake courses, something I was nervous about at the start, but now enjoy as much as the cake artistry. It is so motivating to see students embrace cake decorating concepts and develope their skills when tackling cake projects.
I do have a loyal customer base for both cake orders and courses, with the geographical area I am covering, growing all the time. I never liked social media but have recognised its significance in today‘s business world. Having a FB page allows me to advertise the courses and also showcase my latest cake creations.
Although by nature I‘m not a competitive person, I do enjoy the challenge of Cake International and enter every year - I will do a separate blog about entering this prestigious event. I think it is because you have to create a masterpiece based on set criteria and your artistic flair can take you beyond what the customer generally requires. I would encourage anyone to consider entering - that in itself is an achievement.
Customer service is very important to me - I like to discuss designs with the customer to ensure the cake is personalised, to create a ‘wow‘ factor.
What do I want to achieve in the future? To develop my wedding cake and bespoke celebration cake business and perhaps write a book. I would like to create cakes for a Cake Decorating magazine - the ones where you show the step-by-step stages in photographic form.
